I know you guys have wanted to know and…. YES!! I DID IT!!! I ran/walked 100 miles in one month!!! Woohooo!!!
When I woke up that morning, it was raining… Ugh! Although I appreciate the rain and cooler weather, I really wanted to run out doors vs the treadmill. This got me thinking and contemplating if I could get this challenge done.
Instead of letting my thoughts get the best of me and getting lost in vague fears, I asked myself what is the worst that could happen? When I figured out what the worst could be, it really wasn’t. I found clarity in knowing that I did my best and whether I get 100 miles or not, I’ve already broken my record!!
I felt like the Little Engine that could on that treadmill! I think I can, I think I can… LOL! The first 6 miles were great, but the last 4… Well, I walked/ran majority of it. I even walked another mile to cool down. 11 miles on the freaking treadmill!! WOW!!! I was so happy when I finished I screamed and cried when I got in the car.
July was an extremely busy month that mostly consisted of working, taking care of my grand baby, and other activities with my family and friends. It made this running experience hard, but doable with the right attitude and plan. I’m thankful for everything I had to go through to get it done. It has made me stronger in spirit, mind, body and running.
7/31/14 100 miles in July
Shout outs and Thank yous
Oh my I’m a day behind! Here is day thirty. I’ll post day thirty-one tomorrow!
I couldn’t get up this morning. I worked late so I was tired and sleepy. It was also raining, and that didn’t make it any better.
After hitting the snooze button a few times, I finally got my day started with this 20 minute stretch video to loosen up my tight hamstrings.
Home Yoga Practice: Hips and Hamstrings for Men and Athletes
The video helped ease some of the tightness I felt, but not all. I just told myself to take it easy, focus on the miles and run/walk at a comfortable pace.
7/30/14 Since it was raining this morning, I had to run/walk on Mr. Treadmill.
7/30/14 Ran/Walked another two miles after the rain stopped.
Started day twenty-nine with a 3 mile run at the park. It was an emotional run. My thoughts were all over the place, my hamstrings were not happy as well as my calves. I kept telling myself that I’m in this race with grace and I know I can do this. I have broken my own personal record with 75 miles and that is flipping awesome. I just have to keep going…keep pushing.
After my run, my family and I took a field trip to Perot Museum of Nature and Science. We had a wonderful time seeing all the exhibits and dinosaurs. My munchkin really liked playing with the building blocks and the water. It ended up being a fun and great day with my family.
7/29/14 Ran 3 miles and walked half mile.
Walked 1.5 miles at Perot Museum.
Play time in the water.
Today I had my side kick with me. We walked to the park and played on the jungle gym, slide, and swing. We made it back home just before the mid-afternoon storms.
7/28/14 Walked 2.3 miles with my grand baby. Good times!
I have added up my miles and…wait for it… 75 miles!! BOOYAH! My highest mileage month ever! I’m so stoked! I need 25 more miles to reach my goal!
My challenge is doing this in four days… Yep four days! I think the best way to do this is to split my runs. 3 to 4 miles in the morning and 2 to 3 miles in the evening. Any other suggestions?
7/27/14 25 miles to go! Can I do it in four days? We shall see!
It’s way past my bedtime, but I need to catch up with you guys!
Yesterday, I was invited to go workout at the park with Coach Carla from the gym. So my running plan changed from 5 to 6 miles to 3. And let me tell you, that workout at the park kicked my rear after running 3 miles. Sprints, Stair Repeats with Burpees, Calf Raises, Push-Ups, Tricep Dips, Step ups on the benches, Tree Sits (instead of wall sits) Jumping Jacks and more! I thought I was going to pass out with the heat and the humidity. Whew!
7/26/14 – Ran 3 miles, plus another 1.5 miles at the park.

Saturday evening I went to my sister-in-law’s wedding reception. It was absolutely beautiful. Lots of good food, great music and family love.

I enjoyed catching up with one of my closest and dearest friends Shalanda this morning over breakfast. I’m truly proud of her and all her accomplishments, especially her recent achievement of becoming a licensed minister. I feel so blessed to be a part of her ministry that will transform lives through prayer, worship, fellowship and nutritional guidance.
You can follow Shalanda and her ministry through her website Sevenfold Society.
Sevenfold Society is an organization created to provide a means for women to develop spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, and to fellowship with other women in a comfortable and positive environment.
Today our leader took us to Top Golf to celebrate and recognize our team achievements. It was really nice to get away from the phones, desk and office for a day.
After our meeting and celebration we had lunch and hit microchipped balls into dartboard-like targets. Super fun!
I am very grateful to be a part of an amazing company that values their employees and work side by side with such loving and caring people.
7/25/2014 – Team Selfie~No activity.
Today was a good day. Hit the pavement bright and early, then had breakfast with my better half. And well…That’s about it! LOL!
Tomorrow I have an early morning breakfast date with a good friend and a team building event with work. Sounds like it’s going to be super fun!
7/24/2014 – 3 miles and breakfast with the hubby. 🙂
I had to work late last night so I didn’t get a chance to post my update for day twenty-three.
I felt better yesterday. No more headache! Yay!! Hill and stair repeats were tough with the heat and humidity, but I got ’em done!
7/23/14 Hills x 3, Stair Repeats x 6 and more hills. 2.5 miles with a half a mile cool down.
Good gosh almighty I woke up with a headache. I have no clue what triggered it. Since it was hard to get going, I decided to split my 3 mile run. A portion of it this morning and the rest later on this evening.
It was a hot and humid short run, but I’m proud of myself for pushing through.
7/22/2014 Morning Run – 1.6 miles
My headache subsided this evening. I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill because it was just too hot. I also went to my first Hatha Yoga class and love it! I think I’m going to add it to my fitness schedule next month.
